Canmore , AB , Canada

The Canadian Rockies are truly a majestic sight, touching the Yukon, Alberta and British Columbia. This mountain range is over 120 million years old, created from the pressure of the joining of the Pacific and North American tectonic plates.

Embraced by the spectacular and inspiring Canadian Rocky Mountains, Canmore (altitude 1350 meters, or 4300 feet) is becoming increasingly popular due to its scenic beauty, friendly atmosphere and the wide range of activities at its doorstep year-round. It has a well-deserved reputation for being a friendly, year-round family vacation destination. Whether you're on a weekend outing with friends or your loved one, enjoying some family bonding time or just need some time to get away from it all, the Canadian Rockies provide an idyllic setting, and our mountain getaway gives you that home-away-from-home feeling.

Breathe in the clean mountain air as you gaze at the majestic mountains that surround this picturesque town. You can visit local attractions, buy some local produce or gifts from the local market, or just explore the myriad of shops on Main Street. Try some local coffee or locally grown food, or sample the locally brewed beer.

For the more adventurous, Canmore is a sports mecca, from mountaineering, hiking, mountain climbing, to canoeing, kayaking, golf and skiing and everything in between. Go horseback riding and spot some local wildlife, try a heli-tour or dog-sledding, or get wet with a white-water rafting adventure!

The beautiful Bow River flows through the heart of Canmore and is only a five minute walk from your downtown condo and steps from the Three Sisters property. The river also offers fishing, rafting and canoeing adventures as well as a tranquil setting for a relaxing walk or hike, where you might discover a fresh waterfall overflowing with crystal clean mountain runoff.

The commercial tourist hub of Banff is only 24 kilometers away, and offers additional shops, museums, restaurants and cultural activities. Reward yourself with a soothing soak in steaming natural spring water at the world-famous Banff Upper Hot Springs, open year-round.

Some of Canadas most beautiful golf courses are within easy reach of Canmore, including 2 Robert Trent Jones courses in Kananaskis, Silvertip, Banff Springs and Steward Creek, so don't forget your clubs if the season is right! You'll be rewarded with spectacular views and some very challenging alpine golf, depending on the course!

The region transforms into a ski haven in winter: there are five downhill ski areas within a 45 minute drive of Canmore, and the Canmore Nordic Center (which hosted the 1988 Olympic Nordic events) is 5 minutes away, and offers world class cross-country skiing in winter (boasting 70 kms of groomed trails) and mountain biking in summer.
